Who joins this program and why?

Each year exchange students from more than 10 countries enjoy South Africa from a very unique perspective. Our program offers the rare and extremely special opportunity to experience South African customs and cultures while living with South African host family based in all cultural backgrounds, but especially in black, indian, colored communities! This program is not only offering our international students the option to learn and understand more about South Africas cultural diversity but also to build new bridges between fellow South Africans!

World Study Group Southern Africa seeks energetic, curious students from around the globe, who are eager to learn about another culture, who enjoy interacting with people of different ethnic/cultural backgrounds, who are not afraid of stepping into a new, very often extremely different world.

As a huge reward our foreign exchange students join us at a memorable time - the peaceful transition from Apartheid to demogracy! They might even catch a glimpse of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu who personify this special spirit!  

We belive that this particular program offers extremely influential experiences for every participant, providing meaningful interactions in their new neighborhoods, making a difference through community services projects while enhancing their knowledge about South Africas history, our 11 languages and so much more! 

South Africa is a dynamic nation, outstanding infrastructure but yet full of poverty that is one characteristic of a still developing country!

World Study Groups Special: Intercultural Training / Welcome Orientation

Our Cultural Exchange Program always starts with an - up to three days long - intensive Welcome Orientation Seminar/Intercultural Training! Our primary concern is giving our students the best, the safest possible start. We take great care in providing helpful information to be successful and safe while in South Africa. World Study Group Southern Africa staff has years of experience organizing successful international exchange programs, everybody takes great care to provide a safe foundation for the unique challanges ahead of everybody.
